Working Remotely in Austria

What are the rules and regulations that companies have to follow when their team members work remotely in Austria?

Overview on remote work regulations in Austria

Work performed by an employee in their house is defined as a "home office" under new Austrian legislation. A home at a secondary registered address, or the house of a close relative or life partner, is also considered "home". Full or partial working days spent on a business trip or travelling to the employer's office are not considered home office days.

Work done in cafes, libraries, hotel rooms, or public areas, on the other hand, does not qualify as a home office day for tax purposes, which is important for the flat rate expenses.
