The Labour Code of Lithuania defines remote work as, "work conducted regularly or in parts at a location other than the place of employment while using information technology". Employees have the right to request remote work, but reluctance to do so when asked by their employer cannot be used as a justifiable reason to terminate an employment contract or change working conditions. When an employee requests to work remotely, employers can only refuse the employee's request if they can show that the business will incur an unreasonable expense.
Employers must agree to allow pregnant employees, those breastfeeding, parents with children under the age of three, single parents raising a child under the age of fourteen (or 18 if the child has a disability), or a request by a health care institution to allow the employee to work from home for at least 20% of their total working time to work from home.
