At Oyster, we’re on a mission to create a more equal world by making it possible for companies to hire the best talent anywhere in the world. Accessing the global talent pool enables companies to grow and thrive, while also creating opportunities for talented individuals worldwide.
If you’ve experienced the magic of building a global team with Oyster, we’d love your help in spreading the word! There are probably businesses out there that are looking for a global hiring solution, but haven’t found one yet. They might be trying to figure out employment laws and tax regulations on their own or struggling with slow and inefficient legacy EOR providers. Hey, maybe that was you once upon a time. So why not be the one to help someone discover Oyster?
That’s why we’re delighted to announce Oyster's customer referral program. Tell your network about Oyster, help them hire around the world, and earn $200 for every successful referral. Your HR and People friends will thank you for making their life easier, and you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing you’re helping companies grow and global talent thrive.
How does the Oyster referral program work?
It’s easy! First, you’ll need your personal referral link. Go to the customer referral program page, enter your email address, and click on the ‘Create Link’ button. Once you have your referral link, you can share it through email, social media, your blog or website—anywhere you like!
When a friend of yours clicks on the link, they’ll be able to book a chat with an Oyster expert to get started. Any company that hasn’t signed up before is eligible. Since your personal referral link is unique to you, we’ll automatically know the credit goes to you. When your friend hires their first Team Member, you’ll receive a notification from us to log in and claim your $200 cash reward.
Five tips for sharing your Oyster referral link
Ready to start promoting hiring across borders? Here are some tips on how to share your Oyster referral link with the world.
Tip 1: Reach out personally
Have a friend or former coworker who would really benefit from fast and frictionless global hiring? Reach out to them directly. The personal touch will make them feel extra special—or at least obligated to hear you out! Either way, you’ve got a foot in the door to share your stories and answer their questions.
Got writer’s block? Here’s a template you can start from and personalize:
Hey [friend’s name]! I’m reaching out to tell you about Oyster, a global employment platform we’ve been using and loving at [my company]. You can check it out here: [referral link]. I’m happy to tell you more about my experience with them. Let’s catch up soon! ☕
Tip 2: Find your audience
Think about the people in your network who could be interested in hiring abroad. Do they hang out on LinkedIn? Slack? Community forums? When are they most active? Do a bit of sleuthing to identify their watering holes (and when they’re online) so your posts can get maximum visibility and impact.
This HubSpot study states that mornings and early afternoons are the best time to post on LinkedIn. And despite what some may think, LinkedIn posts perform well on weekends. The best days are Saturday, Sunday, and Wednesday—and the worst are Mondays and Fridays. (Phew, at least people take time off for #TGIF.)
Once you find your audience, the rewards could be really big. Take a look at this story of how one guy became the #1 referrer of a popular financial newsletter. How’d he do it? He found the right venue to reach his target audience and then wrote a highly strategic post that scored thousands of referrals. (Smart!)
Tip 3: Share your Oyster experience
Do you know the great storytelling tactic called The Before-After-Bridge? It’s all about showing what life was like before and after the solution. As in, "once upon a time, global hiring was a major headache for you—but not anymore, thanks to Oyster."
There’s a high chance that your peers are facing the same problems you did. By sharing your own experience—what life was like before and after Oyster—you can show other people what’s possible with Oyster’s global employment platform.
Here’s an example from Liz Brisker, a seasoned People pro who posted about her Oyster experience on LinkedIn:
p.s. This was before we had a customer referral program, so she shared this simply because that’s how much she appreciated working with Oyster. If you want to hear more from Liz Brisker and Latana, check out our Latana case study.

Once they’ve seen what Oyster can do for them, your friends will have their own stories that they can share with their networks. Yep, they can join our referral program, be part of our mission and impact, and get paid for it too. Every referral helps us build a bridge between companies and talent everywhere, so that everyone has the chance to thrive. (Who wouldn’t want to be a part of this feel-good story?!)
How might you get your friends excited to become referrers themselves? Here’s a blurb you can use at the end of your posts:
